- Bachelors in Development Studies is a multidisciplinary course, which enables a person to look a problem or an issue from multiple perspective (i.e. economic, environment and social perspectives).
- The course incorporates many field visits that helps the students in understanding the current scenario and needs of a typical Nepalese society.
- The field visits included in the course also makes a person capable to work in diverse socio-economic and cultural settings by getting the first hand experience of the grass-root level situation.
- Students of Bachelors of Development Studies, enrolled in National College (even graduates) are encouraged to take initiatives that eventually bring social changes in form of Social Entrepreneurship, fund raising campaigns, afforestation campaigns ,etc..
- Development Studies is a research oriented subject that develops analytical and critical thinking ability of a person that enables in finding a sustainable way to develop the society from grass-root level.
- Today, the society has realized the importance of presence of development professionals who can utilize their knowledge and skills for economic development without affecting environment and society (promotion of Sustainable Development).
- Development Studies helps a person in understanding the reasons for the development of present developed nations (models of development). Also, the application of these development models would act as the references for the development of Nepalese society.
