Research requires an aptitude that needs to be developed over time, just studying it won’t be enough. Since we believe in this and give research utmost importance, you will find we start about research in the very first year. Subjects like sociology, anthropology, economics, concepts and theories of development, Nepali II, statistics and English all help a student in preparing for more intensive subjects like research methodology, applied statistics, GIS, agriculture, econometrics, proposal and report writing, research planning and project work.
Also, all these helpful courses to research are aided by field studies where the class is taken out for field visits—both inside and outside valley—under the supervision of concerned faculty and college staff.
In addition, National College continuously conducts and organizes practical and training supplementary to research throughout your stay at college. Internships in final year is again another such opportunity you can take to sharpen your research skills.
All this effort and skill set is tested in the final semester where the culmination of research at National College shapes you for confidently taking professional research assignments or freelancing stints after graduation. This is called as Project Work which is an intensive independent research assignment—usually field work based--conducted by you under guidance of the College Research Committee.
In order to help students financially for conducting this final task, National College via National College Research Committee (NCRC) has been providing a number of competitive Project Work Research Grants and Project Work Financial Assistances since many years. These grants and assistances are given on specific themes viz, environment, climate, youth, autism, rural development, administration, governance, women and related themes to development.
