INTRODUCTION

BDFin is a highly demand driven internationally recognized professional program affiliated to Kathmandu University. Started in 2006, this highly structured and dynamic program is tailored made to take on the challenges discussed at the Third International Conference on Financing for Development, held in Addis Ababa, in July 2015, in the pretext of Nepal committing to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. In this context, National College has developd this program of 4 years (8 semesters) course of 131 credits. The subjects on institutional structures, policies and strategies give testimony to the fact.

MISSION

To produce human resource that can adapt and maneuver in the fluctuating finance landscape and be able to fill financing gaps Nepal faces.

PRORGAM OBJECTIVES

The BDFin program attempts to equip its graduates with necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to analyze the nature of financial institutions, project management, and entrepreneurship development. The program focuses on practical field based learning right from the first semester, which later changes forms as internships and an independent research based project work in the final year.

PROGRAM SIGNIFICANCE

The BDFin program adopts the interdisciplinary framework incorporating subjects from Business Finance, Economic Development, and Entrepreneurship Management. The solid foundation of business finance, the inclusion of subjects from sustainability in development, the enhancement of the entrepreneurship, management, and marketing skills leading up to the vital research ability, the BDFin program graduates have thus earned the ability to lead the Nepalese and global economy and financial markets.

PROGRAM PROSPECTS

BDFin graduates have job opportunities in the financial sectors (banks and insurances), microfinance and cooperatives, enterprises development institutions and research institutions within governmental, non-governmental and private organizations. But, above all, as independent researchers and business entrepreneurs, the graduates have excelled. The BDFin program graduates are qualified for Masters in Development Finance, Master in Business Administration and Masters in various fields viz. Economics, Management and Public Policy.
